NURSING ASSISTANT TRAINING PROGRAM

 

This program is designed to prepare students for immediate employment in entry-level nursing roles and to support their long-term career growth in healthcare.

Program Outcomes
Graduates will be prepared to:

• Take the State Certification Exam for Nursing Assistants

• Deliver compassionate, high-quality patient care

• Apply basic clinical skills in real-world settings

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and medical staff

• Work in various healthcare environments, including:

  • Convalescent homes

  • Skilled nursing facilities

  • Acute care hospitals

With a focus on both technical competence and patient-centered care, this program lays a strong foundation for those pursuing a future in nursing or related health professions.

To achieve certification applicants must successfully complete the minimum training requirements for California CNAs:

▪ 60 hours of theory (classroom) and

▪ 100 hours of supervised clinical training in a nursing facility.​​​​

•    Must be at least 16 years of Age. If under the age of 18 parents must attend orientation with the minor and cosign the required documents.
•    Must be able to read and write English.
•    Diploma or GED Certified preferred but not required.
•    Applicants must submit a California  ID or Driver’s license and Social Security Card.
•    TB Skin Test before patient contact. If you have a history of a positive skin test, a chest x-ray must be taken before patient contact.
•    Health Examination to include a Medical history and physical examination signed by the physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner. The report shall confirm that the student has no health condition that would pose a hazard to himself, fellow employees, or patients.
•    Obtain criminal record clearance by submitting fingerprint images and related information to the State Department of Justice.
•    As part of the background clearance process, the incoming student shall provide information as to whether or not the person has any prior criminal convictions, has had any arrests within the past 12-month period, or has any active arrests, and shall provide information on any prior administrative action taken against him or her by any federal, state, or local government agency and shall certify, to the best of his or her knowledge the information provided is true.

Upon successful completion of the Nursing Assistant Training Program (NATP), students are eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP®) examination.

The NNAAP examination consists of two required components:

1. Written (or Oral) Knowledge Examination

   • Evaluates theoretical understanding of nursing assistant principles, safety, infection control, resident rights, and basic nursing care.

2. Skills Evaluation (Clinical Skills Examination)

   • Evaluates hands-on competency in performing essential nurse assistant skills in a simulated clinical setting under evaluator observation.

Students must successfully pass both the knowledge examination and the clinical skills evaluation to be placed on the State Nurse Aide Registry and become certified as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).

​All post module tests must be passed with a minimum score of 80%.

Computer: PC, Mac, or Chromebook that is less than 5 years old.
Processor: Intel Pentium or better.
RAM for PC/Mac: 6 GB or more
Webcam: Required.
Microphone: Required.
Hard Drive: 100 GB or higher Office 365: Productivity tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) required.
Antivirus Software: Strongly recommended.
Operating Systems: Windows 10 or higher, macOS 10.11 or higher, Chrome OS 58 or higher.
Recommended Browser: Google Chrome (must be up to date).
The applicant must have a working Email ID.

Camera: it is required to have your camera on during online classes on Google Meet. This is to ensure that you are actively participating in the class and to facilitate real-time interaction with instructors and peers. However, please note that you can adjust your camera settings to blur or hide your background if you prefer. Additionally, you may be allowed to turn off your camera during breaks but this should be done with the instructor's permission
